                TROOP 60 HISTORY
Troop 60 was originally chartered in July of 1936. Arlie Ingram was the first Scout Master. The eight charter member scouts were Ulus Light, John Betterton, Houston Betterton, Frank Feemster, Floyd Hyatt, Jimmie Isom, Hayden McClure, and Byron Tompkins. According to Council records, the troop did not recharter during the years of 1941 through 1943. It is a natural assumption that adult leadership was scarce due to the war. However the troop was reorganized and rechartered in December of 1944. Tenure for scouting units is recognized by how many years of continuous service have been achieved. In December 2004 Troop 60 celebrated 60 years with hopes of many more great years to come.
